How do you check a second-hand phone before buying?
Match the IMEI, inspect the body, test the screen, cameras, sound and connectivity, then check seller accounts before payment. PhonePakka helps you record those observations on the phone you are buying.
PhonePakka is a free browser-based checking tool for Android and iPhone buyers in India. Its 38 device checks combine browser observations with buyer confirmations. No app or account is required for the standalone tool. It is independent of phone manufacturers and the Government of India.

Before you start
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes. iPhones don't let websites use Bluetooth, vibration or the battery reading, so those become quick guided checks. You also get something Android can't give: Apple's Parts and Service History on supported models and software. It can report part status; a missing entry does not prove no repairs.
Can the seller fake the results?
Results and screenshots can be manipulated. Random sound patterns, file-date checks and local repeat-image detection provide limited safeguards. Watch the tests on the actual phone, compare the live official IMEI reply and treat the report as a check record, not proof of authenticity.
Is it safe for the seller's phone?
Yes. PhonePakka is a website. It needs no installed app. Some tests ask permission for camera, microphone or location. Test results stay on the phone. Location coordinates are not stored by PhonePakka. Browser and operating-system location services may use network providers. Screenshots are read on the phone itself and are never uploaded.
Is PhonePakka a government service?
No. PhonePakka is an independent tool. The IMEI status comes from the Department of Telecommunications' Sanchar Saathi service, which anyone can use by sending an SMS to 14422.
What if a test fails?
The report tells you whether it's a deal-breaker, like a blacklisted IMEI or a serious IMEI warning, or a problem you can use to negotiate a lower price, like a weak battery or a hazy camera.
